Grandma’s Cheese Cookies
This recipe was taught to me by my grandmother Librada Guette. These cookies are the favorites of my granddaughters Valerie and Arianna, and decided to show them how to make them. Here is the recipe for 12 cookies:
- 2 cups of flour
- 1/2 lb. grated white hard cheese
- 1/2 cups of sugar
- 2 oz of butter
- 1 teaspoons of baking powder
- 1 teaspoons of baking soda
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla
- 1/2 cup of milk
- 2 egg yolks
- Zest of 1 lemons
Save some of the cheese to put over the cookies before putting them into the oven.
Mix all ingredients except the milk.
Pour the milk gradually to the mixture until it reaches the ideal texture to make the cookies.
Assemble the cookies on a cookie sheet and add the cheese, add milk, sugar and cheese on top.
Bake at 350° F for 15 to 20 minutes in the middle of the oven.
